At Manpower Slovenia, in the period from March to May, for the fourth year in a row, we have successfully completed cooperation in the organization of the HR Starter program, which is implemented by the HR World organization. The free online HR course HR Starter is aimed at students, young graduates and masters students, and the goal of the program is to empower young talents to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills that will open the door for them to work in the field of human resources management.
Every year, the project connects more than 200 young talents from many countries - this year from Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Russia and others.
During the six weeks of the program, young people were able to listen to the biggest experts in the HR world during informative HR lessons and take part in mentoring meetings, where they further honed the acquired knowledge and worked on their group assignments.
The weeks were thematically divided into current HR areas . At the beginning, the participants were introduced to different HR roles and tasks and learned how the HR department cooperates with other departments. In the second week, current challenges in employment and recruitment were discussed , and in the third week, employee development planning and the importance of e-learning in companies. The fourth week was devoted to challenges in managing employee performance. In the fifth week, they learned about how HR professionals manage a hybrid way of working and flexibility, and in the last week, they were able to learn about the most current trends in the labor market and the challenges that lie ahead in the future.
In addition to guest lecturers from other countries who prepared informative lectures, the students also listened to two mentors during the mentoring sessions, who, in addition to the role of lecturer, also took on the role of advising the participants regarding their case studies.
At three meetings, the students met with Mirjam Kepic, who performs the role of HR manager in the successful car rental company Sixt Slovenia, and this time she gave the participants her experience regarding challenges in employee performance management and her experience in the field of coaching.
Tanja Burja, employed as HR manager and Adria HR Lead in the successful international biotechnological company Amgen, took the mentoring position at the three meetings as well. She addressed challenges in recruiting and developing employees, as well as offering insight into hybrid and flexible forms of work.
Eva Zečevič, assistant in marketing at Manpower Slovenia, helped to coordinate and conduct the mentoring meetings.
In addition to submitting individual tasks and other obligations that were part of the program, for the final challenge, the students presented case studies on which they worked under the auspices of mentors during the entire HR Starter program.
The program achieved exceptional results, mainly due to the excellent cooperation of all participants. Together, they showed what can be achieved when top experts from the HR field and young talents who are just starting their careers come together.
